Cailloux dans l’eau

I was asked to work with a pianist on a project and to direct Tristan Murail's "Cailloux dans l'eau", which she was playing. This music, which means "pebble in the water" in English, sounded very attractive for me and made me imagine a solitary stone floating in space. Because I felt the sound of the mass floating in space and the pianist's nervous breathing, I challenged to produce a video to superimpose them on the image of the stone.

ピアニストと一緒に企画を行うことになり、彼女の弾くTristan Murailの《Cailloux dans l’eau》に演出をつけることになった。私は、邦名に訳せば「水の中の小石」を意味するこの音楽にとても惹かれ、空間に浮かぶ孤独な石を想像した。空間に質量を浮かばせるような音や、ピアニストの緊張した息遣いを感じ、それを石のイメージに重ねた映像を制作した。
