When I visited the Takato Museum of Arts, I found a small hut quietly standing at the edge of the garden. People say that the hut is only used during the cherry blossom festival in spring and is closed the rest of the year. I understood why it was so clean despite being neglected.
Every time spring passes by, it accumulates inside the hut. I saw such a scene there. For example, fallen leaves and petals are carried by rainwater to rivers and lakes, where they accumulate in stagnant water. If that is the case, then this hut, where spring accumulates, is perhaps a stagnation of time.
At the end of repeated springs, the accumulated spring will surely undergo a transformation. This occurs on a timescale that transcends the human scale. On such a timescale, real petals and polyester artificial flowers do not differ much in terms of the speed at which they decay. However, if a mechanism that prevented petals from decaying could work, they might turn into rocks.

信州高遠美術館を訪れた際、敷地の端にひっそりと佇む小さな小屋を見つけた。聞けば、春の桜祭りのときのみ使われ、それ以外のときは閉められている小屋であるとのことだ。なるほど、それでほっとかれている割に綺麗なのだと合点がいった。
季節が巡るたびに小屋の中に春が堆積していく。そのような風景をこの小屋に見た。例えば散った木の葉やはなびらは、雨水によって河川や湖沼に集まり、水のよどみで堆積する。であれば春が堆積するこの小屋は、さしずめ時のよどみであろうか。
繰り返す春の果てに、堆積した春はきっと変質していく。それは、人間的スケールを超える時間軸においてだ。そのような時間スケールにおいては、本物のはなびらも、ポリエステルでできた造花も、朽ちる速度においてはそう変わらない。しかしもしはなびらが朽ちないような機構がはたらくならば、それは岩石になるのかもしれない。
